Burning has long been used as a ritual for releasing and letting go. Rituals cause us to take pause, giving weight to things that are significant for us.

Find yourself a dry metal bucket, an old metal cooking pot, or an old clay plant pot.

Begin by finding images, letters or other material related to the situation. Avoid burning any legal documents. Don’t burn anything out of spite.

Burn material that REPRESENTS what you wish to release. Such as old photographs or letters, or anything that holds emotion for you and that you can afford to send up in flames.

If you have no images or material, then sit down and write a letter to the person or persons involved, or a summary of what went wrong and what you wish to let go of.

Add your dried herbs (Sage) to the pot , this will create more smoke to your burning ceremony.

This cleansing includes Digital Detoxing ,ie: delete old messages, texts , photos, phone numbers, unfollow & block toxic social media friends/ followers. - no need to throw your device into the fire.

Never burn in the heat of the moment! A calm, thoughtful and considered burning is much more powerful and effective.

You can burn alone, or you can burn with friends or loved ones. Whatever is appropriate to you.

Sit in front of your pot, hold the images/paper in your hands and just speak from the heart about what this represents to you and why you need to let this go. You can use words like ; I forgive you, I release you. I am free!

Do this ritual outside, where the old energy can escape and be diffused into the open air. - DO NOT burn on very hot or windy days.

Honour the emotions that come up for you, but allow the ritual to give you a sense of finality.

Allow yourself reflection time, to recognise that you have closed the door on that part of your life.

Burn loose sage (salvia fruticosa) leaves into a fire proof bowl or cauldron

Place generous amount of herbs at the base of your bowl, using a long match or lighter to light the herbs and gently blow onto the herbs and allow for the herbs to actively smoke and smoulder evenly.

Alternatively place your loose herbs onto a lit self lighting incense charcoal.
